Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy explains what I-Scream collects, why, and what your rights are.

The Short Version

We collect your scream recordings, captions, votes, and a device-linked anonymous account. Published screams are public — your name is not attached, but your voice may be recognizable to people who know you. We analyze audio only to assign your animal and screen for prohibited speech. We do not create voiceprints and we do not use your voice to identify you. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Deleting a scream or your account really deletes it.

Information We Collect

You provide: audio recordings of your screams, captions (up to 10 words). We automatically create an anonymous account identifier on your device on first use. We derive acoustic features (pitch, pitch stability, duration, loudness, roughness) used solely to assign an animal avatar — these are not biometric templates and cannot identify you. We collect standard technical data: IP address, device/browser type, and basic logs, used for security and service operation.

How We Use Information

We use your data to operate the Service (host, publish, and play screams; run voting and rankings), assign your animal avatar, screen content for prohibited speech, ensure security and vote integrity, and communicate service changes. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models.

Public Content — Read This

When you publish a scream, the audio, your caption, your animal, and its rating are public: visible and audible to anyone, including people without accounts, via the app and share links. Anyone who can access a public scream can hear your voice. Publish only what you are comfortable making public.

Content Screening

Captions are screened automatically before publication. Recordings may be transcribed automatically to screen for prohibited speech. Recordings containing no recognizable speech pass without further analysis. Transcripts are retained only as long as needed for screening, then deleted.

Who We Share Data With

We share personal data only with service providers who host and operate the Service (Supabase for database/auth/storage, Vercel for hosting), with the public for content you publish, with authorities where required by law, and with a successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition.

Retention and Deletion

Published screams are retained until you delete them or your account. Deleted screams and accounts are removed immediately from the Service, including audio files and share pages. Residual copies purge from encrypted backups within 30 days.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. In-app tools cover most of this: your dashboard shows your data, and deletion is self-service. For anything else, contact us at hello@screaming.works.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. Parents/guardians: contact hello@screaming.works.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by our hosting providers. Row-level security controls limit each account to its own private data. No system is perfectly secure; publish accordingly.

Changes

We will post changes here and update the date above. For material changes we will give reasonable advance notice in the app.
